“GOD DEMANDS OUR WORSHIP”

WHY?
Why would a God thrive on worship
from humans who are said to be so unworthy of Him? How could God ever trust the worship was authentic from such a flawed, stupid, unknowing species which could not know enough about His activities to properly praise Him for those things?

AND HOW WOULD WE KNOW?
People who worship God fare no better than those who don’t. Where is the evidence that God rewards anyone for their worship? Wouldn’t some reward be evidence to the rest of us that God does appreciate the worship?

Yet terrible things happen to everyone
and good things happen to everyone.
It is all random.

“JESUS MUST BE TRUE.
THE APOSTLES WOULD NOT DIE FOR A MYTH!”

The fact that people are willing to die for their beliefs is nothing new and it isn’t an argument in favor of the truth of the religion.

The Japanese Kamikaze pilots of World War Two were convinced Emperor Hirohito was the incarnation of the Sun God. The war with Japan was a religious matter. So the Kamikaze pilots committed suicide, martyring themselves for the Sun God by flying their planes into the American ships.

Suicide for a God is not an argument in favor of religion.
It is an argument against it.

“THE BIBLE HAS NO CONTRADICTIONS”

Really?

“I will not keep anger forever.” – God (Jeremiah 3:12)
“Mine anger shall burn forever.”  – God (Jeremiah 17:4)

“..my testimony is NOT valid.” – Jesus (John 5:31)
“..my testimony IS valid.” – Jesus (John 8:14)

“All power is given to me….” – Jesus (Matthew 28:18)
“All power is under control of the evil one.” – Jesus (1 John 5:19)

“‘I have seen God face to face…'” (Genesis 32:30)
“No one hath seen God at any time.” (John 1:18)

“I am come into this world to judge it.” – Jesus (John 9:39)
“I came not to judge the world” – Jesus (John 12:47)

“The righteous flourish like the palm tree.” (PSA 92:12)
“The righteous perish…” (ISA 57:1)

“Be Baptized or go to Hell”  (Matt 28:19)
“No need to be Baptized”  (1 Cor 1:17,14)

“There is an unpardonable sin” (Mark 3:29)
“There is NO unpardonable sin” (Acts 13:39)

“God’s spirit is love and gentleness.” (Gal 5:22)
“God’s spirit is vengeance and fury.” (Judges 15:14)

“Love enemies” – Jesus (Matthew 5:44)
“Kill enemies” – Jesus (Luke 19:27)

Nearly every claim in the Bible
is contradicted
in the Bible.

“GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS”

BUT THERE IS A LOGICAL PROBLEM OF PAIN

If a good God exists, He is supremely good and powerful.
A good being eliminates all meaningless pain so far as it can without surrendering a greater good.

There’s at least one meaningless pain that has been experienced that could have been prevented by a supremely powerful being without surrendering a greater good.

Therefore, there very likely is no good God.

“GOD IS REAL”

PERHAPS – BUT A SPECIFIC GOD CAN’T BE CLAIMED

THE FUNDAMENTAL ARGUMENT
FOR ATHEISM

The fundamental argument for atheism is that there is no evidence or proof for God. There is no solid or tangible evidence for God nor a logical argument for God. The existence of God is taken on faith and not by evidence.

1. God can not be proven by science which is the main way we understand our natural world. There is no theory of a God.

2. There is no conclusive logical argument for the existence of God. Its existence is continuously debated.

3. There is no comprehensive definition of God.
There are as many definitions for each claimed God as there are gods. Therefore it is futile to ascertain enough characteristics
of a God to judge if any God exists or not.

THE PARADOX OF OMNIPOTENCE

We agree that a “married bachelor” can not exist because it is contradictory and self-refuting. An omnipotent God is self-refuting and contradictory.

1. Omnipotence is the ability to do all things. To have all abilities
2. However, some abilities are contradictory to each other. or some actions negate each other
3. To sleep means you are not awake, for instance. You cant be alseep and awake at the same time.

God has the ability to live for ever. Eternal life.
However, that means that he can not die and he doesnt have the ability to kill himself.

God has the ability to be everywhere. IT is omnipresent. However, that means that he doesnt have the ability to leave a certain place or the ability to be absent.

THE PARADOX OF OMNISCIENCE

IF GOD IS NOT ALL-KNOWING
HE IS NOT WORTHY OF JUDGING OTHERS.

We agree that a “married bachelor” cannot exist because it is contradictory and self-refuting. An omniscient God is self-refuting and contradictory.

Omniscience means knowing all things

If God knows everything, then he can not forget because the moment he forgets, he doesn’t know everything.

However, if God cant forget, he then doesnt know how to remember or recollect.
If he can’t recollect. then there is something he doesn’t know – he doesnt know how it feels to recollect or remember something.

As a fellow atheist I too notice logical problems with aspects of God’s qualities. If God is all knowing, that means he knows every event past, present and future. So why does he have emotional reactions to events? You can’t react to something if you already know it is going to happen. You can’t be surprised by anything! Also, it makes God ultimately responsible for everything but that’s a different topic.

    Max,
I have a suggestion for a topic you could maybe write about. It could be called ‘The Allure of Religion’ or ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’. As we both know, God is a concept that exists only in the human mind ; I has NO validity in the real world. Despite this, it still has a grip on human minds across the world. Everything in the human psyche is no doubt tuned to our survival as a species across thousands of years. Presumably, the idea of a God was a powerful meme that helped humans to work together and survive. By exposing God as simply a meme would undermine belief more powerfully than trying to discuss God as if he exists. In fact, one of the strongest tools for militant atheism would be to find ANOTHER meme that could oust the God meme..any ideas on what this could be?

    • Atheist Max says:

I think Atheist memes would be too dogmatic – so it probably wouldn’t work. Dogma is the whole problem with religion.

I think the best way to normalize Atheism is to simply encourage other Atheists to come out to family and friends and acquaintances.
According to most polls approximately 25% of the general population simply doesn’t believe in gods. So we are not alone.
But many people call themselves Agnostic or Freethinker – and these are not terms easily understood.

      “Atheist” is easily understood.
If non-believers simply used the word Atheist in reference to themselves they would have enormous power to change the world for the better.
